KNIFE ANGEL COMES
TO
WESTON-SUPER-MARE

Image used with permission of The British Ironwork Centre

The Knife Angel is a sculpture about 27 feet high which was created by the British Ironwork Center in Oswestry using 100,000 knives surrendered to 43 Police Forces in knife amnesties.

The sculpture will be visiting Weston-super-Mare for the month of May 2024.

The Violence Reduction Partnership, Safer Communities, at North Somerset Council have approached A1 Camera Club with an invitation to assist with this project and the Club is pleased to have accepted.

Club members will be volunteering as photographers to record the arrival and departure of the sculpture together with events and activities during its time in Weston.

The Club is also assisting the Safer Communities Team in organizing and promoting two photographic competitions.

The theme of the first competition will be the “Consequences” of knife crime.

The theme of the second competition will be creative images of “The Knife Angel” itself.

Full details of the Competition Rules and how to submit entries can be found on the North Somerset Council website at https://saferstrongerns.co.uk/our-services/violence-reduction-partnership/knife-angel/competitions
